City to sell new cemetery spaces The city of Cleveland has decided to start selling some of the lots in the new section of the city cemetery. at its meeting Monday, the City Council voted to allow the sale to begin as soon as city officials can notify the public in a way that gives everybody an equal shot at purchasing what they want. About 400 lots will be made available in the southwest corner of the new section. That corner is bordered by Peach Street on the west and the fairgrounds to the south. the lots will sell for $500 apiece. Fireworks in Cleveland
Friday night Cleveland's Sadie Wisdom turns 99 July 4 Sadie Wisdom of Cleveland, long-time primary school teacher in Goodrich and Tarkington, turns 99 this Independence Day - and there's going to be a party to celebrate. Ms. Wisdom's family is hosting an Open House from 2-4 p.m. Friday, July 4, at 207 S. Roosevelt in Cleveland. All friends and former students are warmly invited and encouraged to attend and pay tribute to this remarkable woman. Watch for her story in the Cleveland Advocate in the near future. Tennessee Gospel group performs Sunday The Telestials, a Southern Gospel singing group from Nashville, Tennessee, will be in concert at the Southline Baptist Church (1306 Southline Street) Sunday, July 6, at 6 p.m. The concert is free, but a love offering will be taken. Pace-Stancil Funeral Home services: Funeral services for Mildred Browder are scheduled for Thursday, July 3, at 10 a.m. at the Old Waverly Presbyterian Church in Old Waverly, Texas, with interment at the Old Waverly cemetery. Police Department Stat On Monday, July 1, the Cleveland police and fire departments logged a total of 10 ambulance calls, with 2 vehicular accidents; 27 general calls, 1 escort call, 5 alarm calls and 2 fire calls. Two offenses were recorded, one being theft. One arrest was made on a charge of theft by check, and 12 911 calls were answered.
