The Big Show is tonight!
The 24th annual Cleveland Community Independence Day Celebration takes place tonight at the CHS Indians football stadium. Admission is free. Doors open at 6:30, with the program starting at 7:30. Come early, because the stadium fills quickly for the entertainment and the fireworks. The big show is scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m. A concession stand will be open for food and drinks.

Rental Houses Needed
The Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce has issued a plea for housing on behalf of new teachers moving to the area for the 2003-2004 school year who will be searching for places to live. Anyone who has rental property available is urged to list their properties with the Chamber office as soon as possible. Call 281-592-592-8786, or stop by the office at 222 S. Sadie Wisdom celebrates 99th today
The family of Sadie Wisdom, who turns 99 today, is hosting an Open House from 2-4 p.m. today at 207 S. Roosevelt in Cleveland. All friends and former students are warmly invited and encouraged to attend.

Tennessee Gospel group performs Sunday
The Telestials, a Southern Gospel singing group from Nashville, Tennessee, will be in concert at the Southline Baptist Church (1306 Southline Street) Sunday, July 6, at 6 p.m. The concert is free, but a love offering will be taken. For more information, call 281-592-3959.

Funeral Services Scheduled
Pace-Stancil Funeral Home lists these services:
Graveside services for Charles Hollis Sr. are scheduled for Saturday, July 5, at 10 a.m. at Security Cemetery. Services for Mayme Prestwood are set for Saturday, July 5, at 10 a.m. in the Pace-Stancil/Probst Chapel, with interment at the Splendora City Cemetery. Funeral services for Bethel Eva Allen are scheduled for Monday, July 7, at 10 a.m. in the Pace-Stancil/Probst Chapel, with interment in the Splendora City Cemetery.

Police Department Stats
Cleveland Police and Fire Departments logged the following calls for Wednesday, July 2: 13 ambulance calls; 1 no-injury vehicle accident; 24 general calls; 3 alarm calls; 1 fire call for a dumpster fire on N. Washington; and 14 911 calls. Four offenses were recorded, including 2 thefts, 1 burglary, and 1 DWI with possession of marijuana. Three arrests were made, including bodily injury assault, possession and parole violation.

Texan Theatre Movie Listings
Don't fight the traffic, the crowds, or the high prices at other movie theatres - stay home and enjoy the show at the historical downtown Texan Theatre. Beginning tonight (Friday), at both 7 and 9 p.m., will be 2 Fast, 2 Furious (PG-13). Admission is $4 per adult, $2 per child.
