Cleveland youth wins national celebrity search
Gregg Jeffcoat of Cleveland has just become one of two new faces for Twenty X, a Wrangler jean product that is taking the teenage world by storm. Gregg was selected from 200 young hopefuls in the second annual nationwide Twenty X Celebrity Search at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Farmington, NM - and in the finals competition held there July 22, he was chosen as the male "new face". Kylie Rabalais of Tioga, LA, was deemed the female Celebrity Search winner. According to an official press release on the Celebrity Search event, Jeffcoat's life may "change dramatically", as he will have the opportunity to be featured in everything from Twenty X ads and product hang tags to the new Twenty X-sponsored TV reality show, "Rodeo High". The show, aired only on The Outdoor Channel on Mondays and Wednesdays, features rodeo action filmed at National High School Rodeo Association (NHSRA) competitions. See next week's issue of the Liberty County News for the full story.

City of Cleveland enters cyberspace
Cleveland now has its own website, and it's an impressive one. Developed and maintained by J. Andrew Rice and his firm, Public Management, Inc. of Cleveland, the website includes information on area transportation, government, history, infrastructure, education, quality of life issues, and news and notices. The site also features statistical information on the Cleveland area, including figures on the labor force and demographics. Designed not only to educate, but to attract new businesses to the area, the site includes incentives and information developed and presented by the Economic Development Corporation of Cleveland. The site is worth a visit - check it out at www.clevelandtexas.com.

Friends of Downtown Cleveland to host Pro-Cleveland Rally
Next Tuesday evening, July 29, at 6 p.m. at Austin Memorial Library, the Friends of Downtown Cleveland Committee is hosting a public forum to address issues such as Cleveland's quality of life, structured planning, and the economic advantages of zoning. The Committee will present a Zoning Proposal to the public, asking for community input on what residents would like to see happen in various areas of town for future land use and economic development while protecting Cleveland's history, identity, and residencies. The controversial subject of manufactured housing is expected to be addressed, but other issues will include new construction; future housing developments; and what is required to attract new businesses, restaurants, and retail outlets to Cleveland. "We want the public's ideas and opinions," says Mike Heilers, committee member. "When we make a formal presentation to city government officials, we want it to reflect the community's thoughts, not just those of a few people."
