Public meeting on tax increase
Notice was received from the Commissioner's Court of Liberty County regarding a public hearing to be held this morning at 8:30 a.m. on a "tax increase". However, the county tax office stated that "it was expected" that last year's property tax rate of .005810 would hold for this year. An office representative noted that "other entities" may be considering a rate hike, but the county's intent was to hold the rate at the current level. A special meeting of the Commissioner's Court will be held at 9 a.m., in which they will address a total of 36 agenda items.
