Child
mauled by pit bull in San Jacinto county
Six-year-old Alexis Whitmire is in Texas Children's Hospital recovering from
surgery to repair bites on the back of one leg inflicted by a neighbor's pit
bull on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The dog allegedly attacked Whitmire from behind, without
provocation, dragging her down the road until 17-year-old Scott Randall pulled
the little girl free. Randall drove Whitmire, her mother, and 2 siblings to Cleveland
Regional Medical Center for initial treatment. Whitmire was then transferred
to Texas Children's Hospital for surgery. The case is under investigation by
the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Department.
