Wisegerber says yes
With the strong endorsement from the Republican Executive Committee and after
much consideration, Lester Ray Wisegerber has declared his intention to accept
the challenge and place his name on the Republican Primary ballot for Liberty
County GOP Chairman.
Currently serving as President of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce, Wisegerber
has long been active in numerous civic and community organizations. He offered
a strong challenge to incumbent County Judge Lloyd Kirkham in the last election;
an election that resulted in state-level hearings on possible voting irregularities
and election integrity.
"The time is now for citizens to take a closer look at our society and government,
and demand some changes," Wisegerber said. "We are blessed to live
in a country where we have the privilege of going to the polls; and, with that
comes the responsibility of selecting moral and ethical people to represent us."
District 18 gets $1.2 million in grants
State Representative Dan Ellis of District 18 announced this week
that Splendora, Devers, Corrigan and Goodrich are all recipients
of Community Development Block
Grants, totaling $1.2 million.
"This program is vital to creating sustainable, good paying jobs and decent
living environments for rural Texas. Folks in these cities will reap tremendous
benefits from these grants," Rep. Ellis said.
The grants must be used for such things as sanitary sewer systems, clean drinking
water, disaster relief and urgent need projects, housing, drainage and flood
control, passable streets, economic development, and community centers.
Splendora and Devers received grants of $350,000 each, while Goodrich and Corrigan
each got $250,000.
