Plans for new high school expanded
At this week's meeting, CISD trustees approved the
addition of 14 classrooms in the new high school
building after discovering the preliminary plans
showed less classrooms than currently exist at
Cleveland high school.
The number of classrooms available must at least equal the
number of teachers and subjects planned for any school year. After evaluating
planned curriculem and teaching staff, it was discovered that 11 rooms had
to be added to accomodate the total staff. The other 3 added rooms will be
available for any staff
expansion.
The additional classrooms will increase construction
costs by approximately $2 million, but it does not
change the approved total bond issue.
CISD hopes to begin some preliminary groundwork at
the site of the new school in March and actually begin
construction in early June.
